WERE YOU INJURED AT WORK?
If you were injured at work, or while performing a job duty, you are entitled to workers’ compensation benefits — regardless of who was at fault. However, just because you are legally entitled to workers’ compensation does not mean it will be easy to get it.
The workers’ compensation system in Ohio is extremely complex and bureaucratic. When trying to navigate the system on your own, it is easy to get caught up in red tape and have your claim denied.
At Honerlaw Law Office, LLC, we have been assisting injured workers with workers’ compensation claims and answering their questions for over 30 years. Attorney Michael J. Honerlaw is an Ohio Supreme Court certified workers’ compensation specialist. He knows how the system works, and he knows how to guide our clients through the process in the most efficient manner possible.
WHAT BENEFITS ARE PROVIDED BY WORKERS’ COMPENSATION?
In Ohio, workers’ compensation provides many different types of benefits, depending on the nature and extent of your injury. In general, injured workers are entitled to the following:
Temporary total – These are lost-wage benefits paid to a worker who has been totally disabled for a short period of time due to a job-related injury or illness.
Scheduled loss and permanent partial – If the injured worker has “residual damage” from the injury, an additional monetary award may be made.
Wage loss – This benefit is paid to an injured worker whose ability to earn a living has been diminished due to the injuries sustained on the job.
Medical benefits – Once a workers’ compensation claim has been approved, doctors and medical providers who treated the injured worker will submit their bills to the managed care organization (MCO) selected by the employer, the MCO reviews the bills and the BWC pays the bills.
Death claims – If a worker dies as the result of a job-sustained injury or disease, his/her dependent family members may be entitled to death benefits.
